In "This Is My School," Rahmah Pauzi documents her mother and other veteran teachers guiding the first batch of online-learning students to sit for the SPM exams during the pandemic. Through observations and archival photos, the film showcases the school's growth and resilience amidst Malaysia's changing landscape, revealing a decaying yet hopeful institution.
about the ARTIST
Rahmah Pauzi is a freelance multimedia journalist and documentary maker with an MA in News and Documentary from New York University. She’s done work for PBS, Al Jazeera, Channel News Asia, International Business Times, The Kleptocrats Documentary, and BFM Radio KL. Some of her works include VR documentary Return to Chernobyl (Online Journalism Award 2016), 24 (Szczecin European Film Festival), and Welcome to Malaysia. She’s a One World Media 2021 Fellow and Freedom Film Fest Grantee through her film "Jiwa Pendidik/The Soul of a Teacher" (2022). Most of her works revolve around the themes of home, displacement, crossroads, and the intersection of the political and the personal.
