What is KRF?
KongsiKL presents Klang River Festival (KRF), an annual open festival that aims to bring local communities and stakeholders together to share knowledge and facilitate discourse on heritage, culture and identity.
Recognising the transient and ever-changing nature of the locales along the Klang River and its tributaries, the festival highlights the river's importance as a source for transportation, fresh water, food, agriculture and religious rituals.
Through various events held in various iconic heritage buildings in Downtown Kuala Lumpur, KRF is a call for people to reminisce, revisit and rekindle their sense of belonging and nostalgia with the Klang River.
With Kuala Lumpur as a city where two rivers intersect, KRF's main objective is to raise public awareness about the importance of the river by showcasing alternative lifestyles and effective public space usage to transform Klang River Valley into a better place to live in.
To emphasise its core messages, KRF's activities comprise various art forms. These include visual arts exhibitions, dialogue sessions with town planners, researchers and developers, arts performances, workshops, creative installations, curated markets, heritage walks and film screenings.
