about the ARTIST
Nazmi Anuar (Lecturer, Taylors University)
an architect and educator based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is part of the architectural collective New Office and runs the practice Normal Architecture in addition to his teaching post at the School of Architecture, Building and Design, Taylor's University. His main interest is the relationship between architecture, urban form, socio-political forces and how these shape our built environment. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from UPM and a Post-Graduate Masters in Architecture and Urban Design from The Berlage, TU Delft. His first book, Background, Frame, Platform was published by Suburbia Projects in 2021.
Dr Nurul Azreen Azlan (Senior Lecturer, Razak Faculty, UTMKL)
I teach in the Masters of Sustainable Urban Design programme at the Faculty of Technology and Informatics Razak, UTM Kuala Lumpur. My academic focus leans towards the politics of space, where I am predominantly interested in the availability of space for people to participate in public life. As such, I am interested in how and why spaces and infrastructure are produced and governed in relation to politics, the impact of privatisation of public goods, and how historical processes, particularly colonisation, has shaped the resultant built environment and spatial practices.
I graduated as a Part II architect from University Technology Malaysia before pursuing a Masters in Urban Design at the Bartlett UCL. I completed my PhD at the Technology University of Delft, where I wrote a dissertation on the spaces of protest in post-colonial Kuala Lumpur.
Hazazi Hamzah (Researcher/ part time lecturer Taylors University )

Being involved in both practice and academia, he believes that there is a need for Architectural platforms that go beyond the limit of professional and academic institutions. Since 2007 he has been part of different initiatives and platforms to promote architectural discourses through Studio Karya, Netvvork, Format, New Office & Non-School.
