about the ARTISTs
ANGQASA
ANGQASA was established by Alvin Seah, a Malaysian audio / visual artist with Emy Syahmi and Halil Izran as a means to bring together ambient, experimental guitar and electronics with a variety of audio / visual narratives, from film events to creative digital art.
Francoe
After working on various performing arts productions together as well as sharing multiple stages through post-rock quartet, GLASS, and fractional math-rock outfit, The Filters, Coebar Abel and Ian Francis decided to formalize their musical partnership in the form of Francoe. They aim not only to compose music that tucks at the little heartstrings but also to design soundscapes that fill the periphery and produce beats that will have one's body aching to move. Francoe wants to bridge the divide between art disciplines through the openness of their music. This allows them flexibility in moving from one genre to another with different demands of production.
Straw Lim
Back with her latest singles, “I Wonder” and “Hoot”, Straw Lim attempts to address social issues through songwriting. In 2019, she released her debut album “Excursion”, inspired by her backpacking trips. Having travelled to close to 50 countries, she concluded that her home, Malaysia is the best place for her to be. Currently based in Kota Kinabalu, she explores the role of art in the environment and activism, while composing her second album.
