In this dialogue session, photographers Jeffrey Lim and Jefree Salim will each share about their work, and through this exchange draw parallels and contrasts in their approach, visuals, and outcome when documenting indigeneity with lenses. Moderated by Wendi Sia from Gerimis Art.
about the ARTIST
Jeffrey Lim
Jeffrey Lim’s artistic expression stems from his engagement in social art projects using cultural mapping, performative installation and photography. He is active in activism & advocacy, having worked in brand identity design. As a cultural & photography artist, he engages with communities, utilising forms of conceptual representation with imagery, found-object, and space.
Jefree Salim
a photographer and a fisherman from the Orang Seletar village of Kampung Sungai Temon, Johor Bahru. His photographic work revolves around the lives of the Orang Seletar, capturing the moments of his people as they work, swim, and play in the sea and what remains of the mangroves at the coast of Johor. His latest photography exhibition is at Gallery Gerimis, accompanied by a recently published bilingual photobook by Gerimis.
