"By the River" is a 3D exhibition focusing on the upper and middle courses of the Klang River and its connection with riverside districts. The exhibit covers 4 main themes: development projects, culture, flora and fauna, and people. Serving as a dynamic timeline of river events, it fosters public engagement and aims to enhance the bond between people and the cultural significance of this waterway.

about the ARTISTs

Teoh Chee Keong (Advisor)
Teoh is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Technology & Built Environment, at UCSI University. He obtained his Master of Architecture from CYCU, Taiwan in 2005. His teaching and research focus on the areas of cooperative learning and community engagement. He conducted several design and build community projects, such as Kuala Sepetang ‘Kaktao46’ Community Library, Sungai Buloh Leprosy Story Gallery, Garden Library at Kebun Komunity Rumah Pangsa AU2 etc. He has contributed more than 200+ articles for various media including Sin Chew Daily, MalaysiaKini, Asiaweek, Architecture Malaysia etc on architecture and cultural conservation.

Ong Zhen Yhue, Dennis (Researcher)
Dennis Ong is a postgraduate at Universiti Malaya undertaking an MA in Visual Arts. His research interest lies in the urban history and heritage of Kuala Lumpur. In 2023, he founded the KL Oral History Project as a podcast featuring interviews with KLites unpacking what they remember of days past. He was the lead researcher for Parallels: Old Klang Road Revisited, an exhibition investigating the history of Old Klang Road alongside the Klang River under the Klang River Festival 2022.

Scarlet Koon Si Qi (Designer & Researcher)
Scarlet Koon is an aspiring architect currently pursuing her master’s degree at UCSI University. To her, architecture extends beyond individual buildings and into the built environment, and the ways our urban surroundings shape our lives. She has written for Architecture Malaysia magazine, Architecture Asia magazine, and d+a magazine. She is the author and editor of New in the Old: Chinatown Kuala Lumpur, a design + architecture travel guide that explores the history, culture, and new renaissance of the old town. Her designs explore the invisible and intangible connections that tie us all.

Sans Collective (Creative Advisor)
Sans-’, is a loose interdisciplinary collective of artists creating works for performance and exhibition. The collective explores storytelling, through experimentation with open-source research and technical media such as lights, projections, installations, sound and space. Some of the collective past works were '2080' (2017), 'The Misinterpreted Futures of George Town: 2068' (2018), and 'Dari Pinggiran Vol 1: SK Danau Perdana' (2022). They also participated in Klang River Festival 2022's incubator project, with the work 'Dari Lumpur Ke Laut' (2022).
